WHAT ARE WE DOING?
DAY 1 : Arrive in Port Hardy and settle in and have dinner together and get to know each other. Off early-ish to bed to prepare for our first full day!
DAY 2 : We will be heading out with Coastal Rainforest Safaris for a full day wildlife tour out on the ocean. We’ll be looking for humpback whales, orcas, bears, eagles and maybe even a sea wolf if we’re REALLY lucky. This day Geoff will focus on talking about wildlife photography and film making while we learn from our local naturalist on the boat about all the wildlife we’re observing.
DAY 3 : Up early to head out to the west coast to San Josef Bay. We’ll take 2 cars on a logging road for about 1.5hrs to get to Cape Scott Provincial Park and a 45 min walk to one of the top 50 beaches to see in the world! It’s one of our favourite places to take newbies to on the North Island and we will spend our whole day out at San Josef bay exploring the beaches, sea stacks, caves and old growth forest. Kim and Geoff will share about landscape photography as well as the local area we’re in both ecologically and culturally.
DAY 4 : We’re going to do a driving tour to explore the Alice Lake loop which includes Devils Bath, one of Canadas largest cenotes, Eternal Fountain, and then over to Little Huson Caves. It will be a lot of exploring, hiking and enjoying some of the North Islands most wonderful natural wonders. Kim will focus part of today on portrait photography posing and composition with two models at Little Huson Caves. We’ll finish off the day with a bonfire out at Storey’s beach to cap off our trip (if there are no fire bans in place at the time)!
DAY 5 : The saddest of days as we have breakfast and say goodbye to each other.
