K’awat’si Economic Development Corporation

Proposal

Over the past few years the K’awat’si Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) has been expanding and growing at a rapid pace. Through this major expansion, many projects and developments have been happening that tell a great story of success, ingenuity and creativity.  Running parallel to the success of the economic developments, the cultural aspects of the Gwa-sala and Nakwaxda’xw nations (GNN) have seen great change and reconciliation.

I believe that there is a story to tell with KEDC that needs to be told visually to partners, investors, government officials and the generations of GNN both present and future.

For the last 15 years, my focus has been on storytelling, collaborating with a range of companies, non-profit organizations, and clients worldwide. I am a firm believer that stories serve as the bridge between the heart and mind, guiding individuals from mere observation to embracing a shared vision.

With KEDC I want to help tell its story through photos, videos and creative visuals that can be used for marketing, advertising, fundraising and recording history.

I propose a retainer contract with KEDC for the position of "Creative Director." The primary objective of this role would involve the development and creation of visual content for KEDC. This contract would be $42,000 per year or $3500 a month.

This job description would include the following :

  1. Work with KEDC executive and team to identify stories that need to be told over the course of a year.

  2. After identifying those stories, break down a timeline of when and how to capture them.

  3. Work with the marketing team to create a plan on how these stories should be shared.

  4. Create a database archive of photo content to be used for future development and use in promotion, marketing and documentation.

  5. Identify projects, events and proposals that will need specific images captured.

  6. Build a creative visual team of photographers, copywriters, film makers and editors.

  7. Train others to tell stories in their own creative medium through workshops and seminars.

  8. Film and photograph those stories in a cinematic and professional manner.

  9. Working with KEDC to find grant funding for video and photo projects outside of scope of work or for special projects.

  10. Tell the story of the Gwa-sala and Nakwaxda’xw nations as a documented record and for historical purposes.

The position would allow for the development and flexibility of both myself and KEDC to create content as needed and as projects are identified. Together, we can bring innovative ideas to life and bring KEDC to the next level.

I believe that if given the opportunity I can help develop something for KEDC and the Gwa-sala and Nakwaxda’xw Nations that we can all be proud of and benefit from.
